Following on from one of Jesus’ most amazing miracles – raising Lazarus from death – Mary gives Jesus an exquisite display of public honour and devotion. She pours costly ointment on Jesus’ feet so that the whole house was filled with the fragrance.

However, Judas, looking on, thought this was a spectacular waste of money. As we delve deeper, we realise that Judas was in it for himself. He didn’t really care about the poor, he was just using religious words as a cover for his own greed.

When we see Jesus as ‘the Resurrection and the Life’ (John 11:25) we either approach him with devotion and thanks, or we recoil in pride. In this message, we examine our options having encountered Jesus, and take steps forward in faith.
