Church Covenant

Having been led by the Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and on profession of our faith, having been baptised in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, the angels and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. Therefore, by God’s grace and in the power of the Holy Spirit:

1.

We will live under God’s gracious and authoritative rule as recorded in Holy Scripture and as summarised in our Statement of Faith, submitting to the spiritual leadership of the elders of this church as they follow Christ in his Word;

2.

We will gather regularly with the people of God in this church for worship, fellowship and edification, not neglecting the great duty of prayer both for ourselves and for one another;

3.

We will participate in each other’s joys and strive with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows;

4.

We will preserve the unity of this church by walking together in Christ-like love, exercising Christian care and watchfulness over each other, faithfully encouraging, rebuking and exhorting each other;

5.

We will give our time, talents and financial resources as God enables each one for the building up of this church, the relief of the poor, and the proclamation of the gospel both here and abroad;

6.

We will earnestly endeavour to bring up those that are under our care in the nurture and ways of the Lord;

7.

We will strive by example and effort to win people to Christ;

8.

We will with divine help lead holy lives, walking wisely and justly in the world in accordance with our union with Christ, to the glory of him who called us out of darkness and into his marvellous light.

Amen.
