The Good Shepherd

A good shepherd is willing to do whatever it takes to cause his flock to flourish. He will do whatever it takes to defend them against their greatest enemies.

This image is drawn upon by Jesus who calls himself The Good Shepherd. He lays his life down for his sheep.

This is in contrast to the hired hand who simply sees the sheep as a way to make money – a means to an end.

In this message we see how Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and how his good leadership over our lives stands in beautiful contrast to that of the ‘hired hand’ that exert influence over our lives – and in so doing deplete us of life.

Only Jesus knows how to lead us to abundant life – through his death, resurrection, and lordship over our lives.
